Tôi nghĩ rằng sự cạnh tranh là lành mạnh. Suy cho cùng thì mọi người cũng chỉ muốn thể hiện bản thân qua âm nhạc và đấy là một việc mang tính cá nhân, và tôi đoán rằng hầu hết các nghệ sĩ sẽ nói rằng cuộc đua lớn nhất là với chính bản thân họ vì để viết hay, sản xuất tốt và trình diễn hay luôn là một thách thức.
Gần đây tôi đã có một thời gian ở Mỹ và sự cạnh tranh ở đó đã lên đến một mức độ khác. Mọi người đều biết về cuộc ganh đua giữa bờ Đông với bờ Tây và đấy là mục đích ngoài âm nhạc. Âm nhạc đôi khi chỉ là công cụ mà con người dùng để thể hiện những sự ganh đua khác. Tôi không chắc về tất cả những điều đó.
Có rất nhiều nơi trên thế giới mà tôi chưa đến biểu diễn, cũng có nhiều nơi tôi muốn tới thăm, và Việt Nam đúng với cả 2 điều trên. Tôi nghe nói đây là một đất nước tuyệt vời, và tôi biết con người Việt Nam biết cảm nhận âm nhạc – đây là điều quan trọng nhất. Vì thế, vâng, hãy đến nơi đây!
I think that competition is healthy. At the end of the day everyone is trying to express themselves through music and that’s quite a personal thing, and I guess that most artists would say that the biggest competition is within themselves because it is always a challenge that you set yourself to write well and produce well and perform well.
I have spent a bit of time in the US recently and the competition there is up another level. Everyone knows about the West coast v East coast rivalry and that’s where it goes well beyond the music. The music at times seems like only a tool that people use to express other rivalries. I’m not sure about all that.
There are many places around the world that I haven’t performed in and many places I’d like to visit, and Vietnam fits both of those descriptions. I’ve heard it is an incredible place, and I know that Vietnamese people know and understand that music – that’s the most important thing. So, yeah, watch dis space!
